What is Diabetes.
Diabetes is a chronic disease that may last for the duration of a person’s life. For us to work effectively, our bodies transform or convert the food we digest into glucose, which in turn equates to energy. To aid in this transformation or conversion, insulin is required for the conversion into energy. Unfortunately, people living with diabetes do not produce the amount of insulin required.
So it naturally follows that when people with diabetes eat cereals, bread, milk, fruit, yoghurt and sweets, they are not able to convert this food into energy. It is vital that people with diabetes take responsible action and are well informed.
